WHY TAKE A TESOL/TEFL COURSE IN NEW YORK

New York is the most populous city in the United States. The five boroughs (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island) are home to 8.2 million people. If you consider the suburbs, there are 18.7 million people in New York. As a melting pot of immigrants from over 180 countries, New York is just like the United Nations. The City’s fame as a hub of finance, trade, culture, and education reaches around the globe and attracts people. Consequently, teaching English in New York is a dream-come-true job for any English teacher.

New York City has exhausted all superlatives you can possibly think of. Immerse yourself here for five minutes, and you will see why it is like no other place on earth. Only here will you find all of America’s attributes – the diversity, the culture, and the style – intensified in such an intriguing way. And only here will you experience those sublime moments that New York City is famous for.

America’s largest city is never boring. Come and see the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Bronx Zoo, Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn Bridge, and all our other world-famous attractions. If you’ve been here before, there’s always another neighborhood to explore, another restaurant to try, another Broadway show or museum, another don’t-miss cultural performance or sporting event to see.

OUR iTTi NEW YORK TEFL INSTITUTE

Located on Broadway in the Flatiron Section of Manhattan, our TEFL training center in New York shares the neighborhood with those skyscrapers which have made New York a legendary place in the world–among those the Empire State Building.

Our school features accredited 120-Hour TEFL Certification programs that are accepted by schools around the world, including the highest paying, most conservative educational institutions in South Korea and in countries of the Middle East.

The school is located on the 11th floor of a modern, 12-storey Manhattan building with elevators and a receptionist on the ground floor. It features a modern space with air-conditioning, internet access, and convenient seating. There is a large student lounge area with tables, chairs, TVs, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, and a modern coffee machine that provides for different types of coffee all day for free.

Besides covering the theory a teacher needs to know, our trainees teach actual ESL students daily over a period of three weeks. They are from Algeria, Brazil, and Colombia. Teaching practice with students of different proficiency levels (beginning, intermediate, and advanced learners) is followed by immediate feedback and evaluation as well as additional review of theory or teaching techniques to improve our trainees’ performance.

With an MA TESOL and years of international teaching experience, we provide for training staff that will be able to bring out the best in our course participants. We have a proven track record of graduating superbly trained English teachers who are hired by the very best schools in the world. Our secret to success is small classes that allow for individual attention, our sincere belief in training quality, and a deep love for the teaching profession.

If you would like to hear from our graduates, please visit Yelp and read what they have written about their experience with our TEFL school.

WORK IN NEW YORK (OR IN THE US) AS A TEFL Teacher

The requirements for teachers in the United States really vary based on where you are trying to teach. For positions in private language schools, in community centers, or as a private tutor, you generally need a bachelor’s degree and a 120-Hour TEFL Certificate. Six months of teaching experience will make you a top candidate. The pay rate for these jobs is between $25 and $35 per hour. Hiring time is all year around.

For teaching positions in the public schools, you will need at least a bachelor’s degree in English. A 120-Hour TEFL Certificate with Teaching Practicum will give you the practical experience they seek. In addition, you need a teaching license. We can help you become familiar with the license testing and provide you with samples to prepare for that. Such entry-level positions pay approximately $58,000 in New York.

If you want a senior position, such as coordinator, director, or program developer, your employer will probably require a master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or any related field in addition to the TEFL certificate. You will probably also need a master’s degree to teach at a university or community college in the U.S. Such jobs pay $66,000 and up. If you want to work abroad–somewhere close to home–but you don’t have any teaching experience or advanced degrees, you might consider taking a teaching job in Mexico – you won’t need as many qualifications, and you’ll be able to get a good job with your TEFL certificate easily.

And finally, if you want to teach English online, talk to us. We may be able to help you with an entire school ready to go including fully prepared English classes and a TOEFL test preparation program. All you need is students, and our marketing support team will help you find them. As part of our career support, we will help you with resume setup, provide you with school information and actual job leads as they become available.
