WORK IN ESWATINI AS A TEFL Teacher

Teaching in Eswatini is a rewarding experience and while this is a tiny country with only a handful of international schools, it is worth keeping your eyes open for roles there. In Eswatini you have the opportunity to make a positive impact, not only on the lives of your students but also within the community.
The country is developing, poverty levels are high. Infrastructures may not be what you are accustomed to but if you are a creative, resourceful teacher who wants to make a difference then teaching in Eswatini is the challenge that could change your life.
English is a second language in Eswatini (Mthethwa, 2014). It is one of two official languages alongside siSwati. English is also the official language for teaching and learning, starting from the 4th grade. In addition, a ‘C’ or higher grade in English is a prerequisite for entry into the local university and other institutions of higher learning.
However, the Swaziland General Certificate of Secondary Education (SGCSE) English examination proves challenging to most candidates as they fail to obtain credit passes (Examinations Council of Swaziland, 2017).
