    Level 5 Accreditation FAQ

    Frequently asked questions about accreditation

    ?

Accreditation is a big fancy word that simply means a quality check. An accredited school has gone through a rigorous check by an authority on education to make sure the school meets their standards and is qualified to teach students the programs they are offering. A degree from an accredited school is valuable.

Accreditation by these governing bodies gives students, schools, and all interested in the diploma earned from that school, the peace of mind that the program is legitimate and that they’re not being scammed or taken advantage of. It also ensures that the credits you receive from that school are transferable to another school.

Accreditation is important because it helps determine if an institution meets or exceeds minimum quality standards. It helps students determine acceptable institutions for enrollment and assists institutions in determining acceptability of transfer credits.
iTTi uses a British-based accreditation for its TEFL Certification for several reasons:

  • Worldwide recognition: While we don’t question the quality of accreditation work of US accreditation providers, we realize that those countries where iTTi has developed a strong presence, teaching English is still heavily influenced by the British educational system. So it makes sense delivering to schools what they are familiar with rather than to introduce the “new kid on the block” and battle for recognition.

  • More employment opportunities for our graduates.
In the US, TEFL graduates must pass an additional state certification test before they can get employed in the US public-school system. In other countries, they are approved for an employment interview in the public- school sector based on the OFQUAL-regulated TQUK Level 5 TEFL Certificate (RQF). Students are considered to be candidates for job interviews no question asked.

  • Increased value of the TEFL certification.
The OFQUAL-regulated TQUK Level 5 TEFL Certificate (RQF) is worldwide the equivalent of the CertTESOL from Trinity College in London and the CELTA Certificate from Cambridge and has the same value.
  • Ever-improving quality of instruction. Over the years, iTTi has always placed great emphasis on quality in running its TEFL programs. We have tested the English of candidates for the TEFL program. We also realized that an overall quality improvement can only take place when all the course instructors teach at the same high level. As a result, we started iTTi’s teacher trainer certification. These and other quality-assurance strategies helped our organization to get approved for the delivery of the OFQUAL-regulated TQUK Level 5 TEFL Certification (RQF).
In order to prove to the world that iTTi is a top performer in the area of teacher training, we will continue to travel the path of excellence.

  • iTTi is working on more accreditations. We are actively in the process of having iTTi course solutions reviewed by experts in the field in order to become the best TEFL training provider.
  • Continuing Teacher Trainer Education. One important aspect is to constantly keep up with the new developments in the TEFL field. Continuing Teacher Trainer Education in form of webinars and/or newsletters do the job here.
  • iTTi is organizing academic events. We’ll give the members of the iTTi center community an opportunity to introduce their work to the interested public by presenting during the iTTi Spring and Fall Applied Linguistics Week.
