The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), introduced by the UN in 2015, address four crucial dimensions: social, environmental, economic, and institutional. They advocate for transformative measures to lead the world towards sustainability, comprising 17 objectives and 169 targets slated for achievement by 2030 within interconnected networks.

The SDGs encompass actions aimed at poverty eradication, ensuring food security, advancing agriculture, promoting health and education, fostering gender equality, reducing inequalities, and tackling various other critical topics. While governmental and corporate involvement is crucial for certain issues, the agenda also emphasizes localized strategies, empowering communities to address unique challenges effectively.
Social: related to human needs, health, education, improving quality of life and justice.
Environmental: deals with the preservation and conservation of the environment, with actions ranging from reversing deforestation, protecting forests and biodiversity, combating desertification, sustainable use of oceans and marine resources to adopting effective measures against climate change.
Economic: addresses the use and depletion of natural resources, waste production, energy consumption, among others.
Institutional: concerns the capabilities to put the SDGs into practice.

The SDGs were created in a global negotiation process, which began in 2013 and included the participation of numerous countries in their discussions and definitions regarding this agenda.
This is an initiative that arises from the need to engage and raise awareness of key actors in society regarding their role and the efforts necessary to successfully achieve the 2030 Agenda in the country. And that ensures that the understanding of the SDGs transcends the conception of a mere relationship of aspirations and good intentions, so that the characteristic complexity of this agenda is the object of dialogue and joint efforts, and that the objectives and principles that underlie them are rooted in the general actions and conduct of all these actors.
Despite the difficulties in their implementation, the SDGs have great mobilizing power, as they are a positive agenda of opportunities, and can encourage greater coordination between different sectors and political forces. The discussion on financing, technical assistance and decentralization of capabilities in the territory, the involvement of states and municipalities and the coordination between governments, civil society and the private sector will be the decisive issues for a successful implementation. Therefore, these are the points of attention of the SDG Strategy.
